Second Annual Midwest Financial Services Career Fair Recruits Indiana Employers

(August 25, 2006 – Indianapolis, IN) Networks Financial Institute (NFI) will present the Midwest Financial Services Career Fair on Thursday, October 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Indiana Convention Center.  Students pursuing careers in the financial services arena will have an opportunity to network with a variety of financial services companies ranging from consulting firms, to banks, credit unions and insurance organizations. More than 10 colleges and universities are scheduled to participate, including Indiana State University, DePauw, Wabash, Butler and IUPUI among others.

The October 5 event will be the second career fair hosted by NFI.  In 2005, more than 35 Indiana businesses participated.  Feedback from employers indicated a strong interest in meeting with students interested in several areas of finance including accounting and business management as well as less traditional areas of finance such as technology and programming.  In today’s post-Enron world, Sarbanes-Oxley legislation also has driven a strong corporate demand for talent prepared to deal with related compliance issues.

“The timing of the Career Fair has been particularly well received by both employers and students.  An October date creates a less rushed process for students who plan on completing their studies in the spring and provides employers with an early glimpse of the talent that will be available for their spring recruiting efforts,” said Liz Coit, Executive Director of Networks Financial Institute.

Businesses may participate in the Midwest Financial Services Career Fair by calling 317-536-0281 / 1-800-603-7113 or online at networksfinancialinstitute.org.

Networks Financial Institute at Indiana State University was founded in 2003 with a grant from Lilly Endowment.  NFI strives to facilitate broad, collaborative thinking, dialogue and progress in the evolving financial services marketplace, concentrating on the areas of education, outreach and research.  Headquartered in Indianapolis with offices in Washington, D.C. and on the campus of Indiana State, and with outreach internationally, NFI’s goal is to serve as a catalyst for change in the financial services industry.
